The Washington Export Council has been sharing views on international trade policy with senior governmental officials, the diplomatic community, and representatives of international organizations since shortly after World War II. Originally formed as the Export Luncheon Group of Washington to engage the private sector in discussions on global reconstruction, it remains today a venue for discussing and exchanging ideas on a wide range of trade and investment-related topics.
The Washington Export Council is a 501(c)(6) organization that does not take public positions or lobby. Its members are senior managers in the Washington, DC offices of major U.S. exporters and organizations that support them. Virtually all Council members have extensive professional experience in trade policy administration and practice, many as former governmental officials. Council membership is by invitation only.
The Washington Export is a member-run organization.
